Based in Dublin, Renaissance Reinsurance of Europe is a fully capitalized reinsurance company formed in 1998. The Company is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

The Dublin office also serves as a risk modeling and software development base for the RenaissanceRe group of companies.

RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458 was established in April 2009, with property and specialty business underwritten from June 1, 2009. RenaissanceRe Syndicate 1458 enables the Company to execute across the diverse range of markets available through Lloyd’s of London, to respond more effectively to the needs of both U.S. and international customers.

RenaissanceRe’s Ventures unit has responsibility for managing our property catastrophe joint ventures such as DaVinci Re and Top Layer Re, executing customized reinsurance transactions to assume or cede risk, and managing certain investments directed at classes of risk other than catastrophe reinsurance. We also provide customized weather and energy risk management solutions to various customers on a worldwide basis.

Renaissance Underwriting Managers, Ltd. (“RUM”), part of our Ventures group, acts as an underwriting manager for our joint ventures. In addition, RUM supports the RenaissanceRe organization by providing structured reinsurance solutions.

RUM also provides management services to strategic partners by acting as an underwriting agent, providing consulting services or acting as a principal representative.
