RenaissanceRe’s Individual Risk business is written by the insurance company entities within the Glencoe Group of Companies. Specifically, Glencoe Insurance Ltd. and Lantana Insurance Ltd. write business exclusively on an excess and surplus lines basis and Stonington Insurance Company and Stonington Lloyds Insurance Company write business on an admitted basis. Individual Risk products principally include:

  1. Commercial and homeowners property coverages, including catastrophe-exposed products
  2. Commercial liability coverages, including general, automobile, professional and various specialty products
  3. Multi-peril crop insurance
  4. Reinsurance of other insurers on a quota share basis.

Insurance companies within the Glencoe Group of Companies source and underwrite Individual Risk business via two major distribution channels:

  1. Program Manager Partners: We focus on program partners who have large, established portfolios of specialty business with a demonstrated track record of superior underwriting results throughout the pricing cycle.
  2. Quota Share Partners: Our sophisticated, quota share partners have sizable market share and specialized expertise in specialized industry niches. In all cases, we take significant participation in the transaction and focus on areas where we can use our proprietary models and risk analytic skills to add value to the partnership.

Insurance companies within the Glencoe Group of Companies include the following:

  1. Glencoe Insurance Ltd. is authorized to write on a surplus lines basis in all states of the United States of America excluding Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  2. Lantana Insurance Ltd. is authorized to write on a surplus lines basis in all states of the United States of America excluding Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  3. Stonington Insurance Company is authorized to write designated lines on an admitted basis in all states of the Unites States of America including the District of Columbia.
  4. Stonington Lloyds Insurance Company is authorized to write designated lines on an admitted basis in Texas only.
