“We have the people, platforms and capabilities to continue our leadership in the industry.”
Parry to lead rebranded RenaissanceRe Capital Partners
RenaissanceRe said that senior vice president Chris Parry will take on the role of global head of its rebranded Ventures business, to be known as RenaissanceRe Capital Partners.
The promotion is subject to Bermuda immigration approval and will see Parry report to RenRe CEO Kevin O’Donnell, who had been leading the division on an interim basis since the departure of Aditya Dutt last year.
Parry joined the reinsurer in 2016 as a managing director and was named a senior vice president in 2019.
Before that he was international head of capital markets at Aon Securities, where he had worked since 2009 structuring cat bonds, sidecars and other arrangements for cedants such as Scor and Generali.
The rebrand of RenRe’s former Ventures unit will result in the firm’s strategic investment pillar – controlling public and private investments made by the carrier – being hived off into a separate unit.
This will be renamed RenaissanceRe Strategic Investments and be led by Jonathan (JJ) Anderson, who will report to group CFO Bob Qutub.
O’Donnell said that the new brand RenaissanceRe Capital Partners reflected its “differentiated model” of partnership and alignment with third-party investors.
Qutub said that bringing RenaissanceRe Strategic Investments under the finance umbrella would unify its investment approach.
O’Donnell said: “Chris and JJ are highly experienced RenaissanceRe team members and Bob and I look forward to continue working with them as we advance our strategy through these two important functions.”
